Deep Cleanings
Deep dental cleanings involve providing your teeth with a deep cleaning to get rid of plaque, tartar, and …
Dental cleaning is vital in maintaining a healthy and aesthetically pleasing smile. It involves the removal of tartar deposits from teeth and tooth roots, which significantly enhances oral health and reduces the chances of developing oral conditions, such as cavities and gum diseases. It is advisable to get dental cleaning done at least once in six months, along with a comprehensive oral exam by your dentist.
Scaling: Scaling is the procedure of removing the tartar deposits from the teeth surfaces using an ultrasonic scaling tip. The device has a metal tip made from stainless steel and vibrates at ultrasonic frequencies. When placed near the tartar deposits, the scaling tip removes the hard deposits, which will be washed off using a jet of water. The procedure wouldn't be painful and is minimally invasive. Since it is completed in a matter of a few minutes, it is highly convenient for patients, as they need not spend long durations in the dental chair.
Root planing: Root planing (deep cleaning), as the name suggests, is the process of cleaning the tooth roots. For this, we use a hook-like scaling tip that is inserted between the tooth roots and gum tissues. Since the procedure could be painful, we will administer local anesthesia before commencing the treatment. The tartar deposits will be removed, and the imperfections on the root surfaces will be smoothened out to prevent microbial accumulation. Also, the deep gum pockets will be cleared out to remove the food debris and bacteria to give you healthier gums.
