Deep dental cleanings involve providing your teeth with a deep cleaning to get rid of plaque, tartar, and …
Dental cleaning is vital in maintaining a healthy and aesthetically pleasing smile. It involves the removal of tartar deposits from teeth and tooth roots, which significantly enhances oral health and reduces the chances of developing oral conditions, such as cavities and gum diseases. It is advisable to get dental cleaning done at least once in six months, along with a comprehensive oral exam by your dentist.
Your hygienist will first conduct an exam, where they will evaluate the health of your gums and teeth. Then, they will clean your teeth with a tool called a scaler. A scraping tool will probably also be used on your teeth to remove the plaque or tartar buildup that has built up over time. Once all the buildup has been removed from your teeth, the hygienist will then polish your teeth to make them look shiny and clean.
During a routine exam and cleaning, your dental hygienist will be able to monitor the health of your mouth and determine if there are any potential issues that you should discuss with your general dentist. You can also get tips on proper at-home dental care, such as flossing and using mouthwash.
After your appointment, you'll be able to enjoy the benefits of a clean and healthy mouth! Plus, you'll have peace of mind knowing that the oral bacteria on your teeth won't turn into cavities or other oral health problems.
It's important to have regular checkups and cleanings to keep your mouth healthy, so schedule an appointment today!
Scaling: Scaling is the procedure of removing the tartar deposits from the teeth surfaces using an ultrasonic scaling tip. The device has a metal tip made from stainless steel and vibrates at ultrasonic frequencies. When placed near the tartar deposits, the scaling tip removes the hard deposits, which will be washed off using a jet of water. The procedure wouldn't be painful and is minimally invasive. Since it is completed in a matter of a few minutes, it is highly convenient for patients, as they need not spend long durations in the dental chair.
Root planing: Root planing (deep cleaning), as the name suggests, is the process of cleaning the tooth roots. For this, we use a hook-like scaling tip that is inserted between the tooth roots and gum tissues. Since the procedure could be painful, we will administer local anesthesia before commencing the treatment. The tartar deposits will be removed, and the imperfections on the root surfaces will be smoothened out to prevent microbial accumulation. Also, the deep gum pockets will be cleared out to remove the food debris and bacteria to give you healthier gums.
Dental cleanings are necessary for preventing tooth decay and gum disease so we can catch and treat these problems early before they become more serious. According to the American Dental Association, you should get your teeth cleaned every six months. However, you may need to go more regularly if you have periodontal disease or you are prone to cavities. We recommend getting your teeth cleaned every three to four months for optimal results. This will prevent plaque from building up on your teeth and, in turn, prevent cavities.
Cavities are caused by bacteria in your mouth that produce acid that attacks your tooth enamel, causing a hole to form in your tooth. Cleaning your mouth at least twice a year will help to prevent this from occurring. A dental cleaning can also help to get rid of bad breath and reverse the effects of dry mouth caused by medications. It can also relieve any tooth pain or discomfort you may be experiencing due to an infection.
When your gums are healthy, you have a better defense against infection and disease. A dental cleaning will remove the buildup on the surface of your teeth that is harboring bacteria and tartar. Removing these substances will also reduce the risk of gum recession. With regular appointments, we can detect more serious issues and treat them before they get too serious.
